No story. No self-attack. Just a label. Why it works:When you label a mistake, you stop it from turning into a fullidentity meltdown. You%u2019re telling your brain: A thing happened.It%u2019s information, not a verdict.I - Inhale low, exhale longWhat to do (2%u20133 seconds):Take one low inhale (belly/ribs), then a longer exhale - likeyou%u2019re fogging a mirror. You%u2019re not going to do something complicated in the moment, just make sure to exhale longer than youinhale. Why it works:This isn%u2019t %u201cjust breathe%u201d as a vibe. A longer exhale signals thenervous system to downshift out of threat mode. It helps releasethe clamp in your jaw, shoulders and hands - so you stop transmitting panic through your seat and reins.D - Direct your eyesWhat to do (2 seconds):Move your eyes to the next job on purpose.Your %u2018job%u2019 is whatever the pattern demands in the next moment: the next line, corner, transition or maneuver. Why it works:Eyes lead attention. Attention leads body. Body leads horse. When you move your eyes, you pull your brain out of the replay loop and back into the ride - fast.e - execute (ride your horse)What to do (2%u20134 seconds):Forget what just happened and do what the pattern requiresright now.Ask: What am I supposed to be doing in this exact moment? Examples:%u2022 Sit deep.%u2022 Cue the transition.%u2022 Turn the corner.%u2022 Look to the next spot.%u2022 Ride forward. Why it works:Your brain hates empty space after a mistake. If you don%u2019tgive it a job, it will invent one - usually self-criticism or franticfixing. This fills the gap with the job in front of you - so yourhorse gets clear direction again.whaT ThIS lookS lIke In a real rUnexample: Missed lead change in ranch ridingLet%u2019s say you miss a lead change. You feel it instantly.Old pattern:%u2022 You panic.%u2022 You over-correct.%u2022 Hands get busy.%u2022 You rush the next maneuver trying to %u201csave it.%u201d%u2022 Your horse gets confused, and now you stack mistakes.Pasture Boarding IN Horse Heaven with The qualityCare given to all of our top show horses!%u2022 On Site Residents%u2022 Affordable RatesKaren Stallings %u2022 Skull Valley, AZ %u2022 (520) 548-6732Now offering Equine Rehabilitation using European technology.
